Longing test today!
Hello everyone! I just came home from the stable, DONE with my longing test. Also known as the first "horse" test this year! We have been practicing longing for some weeks and been learning how to longe and work in hand with horses, and today was the final test. I had high expectations on myself because I know that I´m good in this. But also when it comes to test, my nerves takes a little bit over and I gett stiff and sweaty (nice combo.. )
BUT, it still went ok. Some things didnt turn out as expected but thats how it is sometimes!
The test was made up by 25 minutes. 5 Minutes goes to warm up the horse without side reins and 5-7 minutes goes to letting the horse relax in the end. In the middle we had about 14 minutes to work with the horse in both sides and we had to show:
- Walk in straight and bended paths.
- Translations between walk and trott. with 15 meters in between.
- Trott in straight and bended paths.
- Galopp translations from trott in both directions.
- Stopping the horse 3 times. The horse shoul be with even weight on all Hoofs. and walk up to it withouth loosing Contact and controll of the horse. And make the longing rope up right in the hand.
- Turning 2 times and showing that you can handle the whip and side reins.

In the relaxing part we had to show the horse without side reins and making it stretch down with flexibility on cirkle and straight paths. Moving with regular steps and energy.
I had a horse named Þrándur in this test. He is really nice in all this, but his weekness is that he wants to come in to mee. I failed in stopping him once. He is supposed to stop on the trac, but he came in to me with pointed ears, just like he is saying "Im here now, what should i do next?" Super nice horse but can be a bit lazy sometimes.
The highest grade to get in this is 10.0. If you get 5.0 you have passed the test. I was really hoping to get 9.5 or 10. But Its hard to say after this. Im glad if i can gett 9.0! Just have to wait and see ;).
Its a bigh relief to be done with this test, and also we had to leave the essay about our seat today. AND now i can just Check this off my list! And unfortunately,, just start to study for 2 big tests next week. YEY! ;)
